The central Ruet e Hilal Committee will convene in a meeting on Thursday for the Ramazan 2020 moon sighting according to a spokesperson of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The meeting for the Committee is to be held at the Meteorological Office in Karachi and will be chaired by Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman and a zonal committees will meet at the provinvial offices.
Earlier the Met Department said that the Ramazan 2020 moon will be sighted on 24 April according to the lunar calendar starting the Holy Month of Ramzan.

Mosques to remain open in Ramazan 2020
As the coronavirus pandemic has caused havoc around the world and in Pakistan, Mosques were earlier restricted to a maximum of five people including the Imam and the staff during prayers and Friday prayers were also restricted.
However, after a meeting with religious heads of the country that chaired by President Arif Alvi, it was decided that Mosques will remain open for Friday congregational prayers including Taraweeh prayers in Ramazan under a 20 point agreement that was reached.
Although President Arif Alvi mentioned that in such a case that there is a sharp increase in the number of coronavirus cases in the country, the government can go back to review its decision about opening of mosques.
