Rawalpindi is set to introduce a new bus service – Rawalpindi Integrated Transport System, enhancing the accessibility of comfortable and affordable public transportation for residents along both public and private transport routes.
The Punjab Mass Transit Authority is actively working on the implementation of the Rawalpindi Integrated Transport System (Feeder Routes) in Rawalpindi. According to sources, the project will involve the operation of 78 minibuses (8-meter-long) in two phases, with the first phase covering 34 routes in the city.
Notably, the timings and fares of the upcoming bus service will align with the Metro Bus Service. Arshad Ali, the Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA), revealed that the buses for this project will be sourced from China and other countries. All buses will be linked to metro stations to function as feeder buses. The initial phase of the project is expected to roll out in the coming days.
In addition, Arshad Ali shared information about a route adjustment in the Rawalpindi Integrated Transport System. The new route will extend from Kachehri Chowk to Rawat vegetable and fruit market, offering improved connectivity for commuters.
