Rawalpindi authorities have announced the traffic plan for the 7th Muharram procession scheduled for Sunday, July 14, 2024.
The procession will commence after Maghrib prayers from the residence of the late Saeed Muhammad Sadiq on Nishtar Street in Sadiqabad.
The route includes:
- Nishtar Street
- Transformer Chowk
- Curry Road
- Chah Sultan
- Glass Factory Chowk
- Zafarul Haq Road
- Leprosy Hospital
- Murree Road
- Committee Chowk
- Iqbal Road
The procession will culminate at Naya Mahalla Chowk, where it will merge with other processions. It will then pass through Wala Chowk, Jamia Masjid Road, and end at Imam Bargah.
Authorities will close the roads anytime after 3 PM, with barriers and other means to ensure the safe passage of the procession. Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly and expect significant delays.

Islamabad will also see processions on the 7th Muharram. Key routes and timings include:
- Sabzi Mandi Area: Procession from Imambargah Musa Kazim and surrounding areas will take place from Maghrib until 9 PM.
- Aabpara Area: Procession from Imambargah G/6-2 and surrounding areas will occur from 7:30 PM until 10:30 PM.
Residents and commuters should allow an extra 1-2 hours for road closures and openings.
