City Traffic Police in Rawalpindi has issued a Traffic Plan for the first Pakistan vs England Test match that is scheduled to take place from December 1 to 5, 2022 in order to facilitate the public in avoiding traffic jams in the city. According to the details, the City Traffic Police has informed about the routes that will be closed during the cricket match and their alternative routes (diversions).
Rawalpindi Traffic Plan – 1 to 5 December 2022
According to the Rawalpindi Traffic Plan disclosed by the Traffic Police for Pakistan vs England Test match taking place between 1 and 5 December 2022, the Stadium Road will be completely closed for general public from 9th Avenue Chowk to Double Road on both sides during the matches.
Meanwhile, the traffic coming from 9th Avenue will be able to enter Rawalpindi through Islamabad Expressway at Faizabad and IJP Road through Pindora, Katarian, Carriage Factory, Pir Wadhai Mor. Furthermore, the traffic coming from Rawalpindi to Double Road and 9th Avenue in Islamabad will enter Rawalpindi through Murree Road at Faizabad.
Moreover, Murree Road will be completely closed from Faizabad to Double Road on both sides during departure and return of the teams, while traffic coming from Islamabad will be diverted from Faizabad to the Expressway and traffic going from Rawalpindi to Islamabad will enter Islamabad via 6th Road and Syed Pur Road.
The Rawalpindi Traffic Plan also stated that traffic coming from Ghousia Chowk will be diverted towards Farooq-e-Azam Road and Kuri Road. However, the Chief Traffic Officer has stated that uninterrupted traffic flow in the city was subject to the cooperation of the people with the police.
The city has placed 432 Traffic Police personnel, including 7 DSPs, 24 inspectors, 314 wardens and 87 traffic assistants to manage the flow of traffic on the alternate routes. Meanwhile, the city has also placed awareness banners on main roads along with information on the official social media pages and radio stations of the police.
It is pertinent to mention that both teams will start practice sessions from November 28m a day after the English Cricket Team’s arrival in Islamabad and the Test match will be played from December 1 to 5, 2022.
