The Rawalpindi City Traffic Police has issued a detailed Traffic Plan for 17 September 2022 on account of the Chehlum Processions for the martyrs of Karbala.
According to the Rawalpindi Traffic Plan, the authorities will close several roads along the route of procession with diversions being provided for commuters.
However, it is recommended to avoid unnecessary travel as traffic will remain congested due to some main routes being closed on account of the Chehlum processions.
Rawalpindi Traffic Plan – 17 September 2022
According to the Rawalpindi Traffic Plan issued on account of the Chehlum Processions, a diversion will be placed on Liaquat Road DAV College Chowk and the traffic will be diverted to Gawalmandi Road. Meanwhile, the City Saddar Road will be closed from Mashreq Hotel to Fawara Chowk and traffic will be diverted towards Mohan Pura.
Furthermore, the Kashmiri Bazaar Road will be completely closed and traffic from Novelty Cinema will be diverted to Fish Market and alternate routes. Moreover, a diversion will be placed near Ganj Mandi Police Station at Raja Bazaar and traffic will be routed towards Hamilton Road.
The road from Bagh Sardaran Number 4 to Bansa Nawala Chowk will be completely closed and traffic will be diverted towards Asghar Mall Road.
The Rawalpindi Traffic Plan adds that a diversion will be placed at Bani Chowk and traffic will be directed towards Circular Road, Waris Khan Road, and Kohati Bazar. Furthermore, there will be full diversion from Iqbal Road from Committee Chowk to Fawara Chowk and the traffic will be sent towards Murree Road.
Meanwhile, Garden College Road from Akbar International to Naya Mohalla will remain closed and traffic will be diverted towards Liaquat Road.
During the procession, 5th Road will be closed from Rehmanabad Turn, Murree Road to College Chowk and Saidpur Road, while 4th Road will be closed for traffic from Punjab Bank Roundabout to Kali Tanki Chowk. The Rawalpindi Traffic Police will also close Asghar Mall Road from Asghar Mall Turn, Murree Road to Degree College Chowk.
