RAWALPINDI – In a tragic incident on Thursday morning, a young girl drowned in a storm drain in Bahria Town Phase 6 while on her way to work.
The 20-year-old girl, identified as Hamra, lived in Ghauri Town and was riding her scooter when she got caught in a heavy water current.
Muhammad Usman, the spokesman for Rescue 1122, reported that Hamra lost control of her scooter due to the slippery road conditions. The powerful current swept her into the nearby nullah.

District Emergency Service teams quickly launched a search and rescue operation. Rescue 1122 teams immediately sprang into action, combing the area for any signs of Hamra. Despite their tireless efforts, initial searches did not yield any results.
As the search continued, the teams extended their efforts to the Swan River area. Unfortunately, while Hamra’s body was eventually recovered, her scooter remains missing.
This incident has left the local community in shock and mourning. It also serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by heavy rains and inadequate drainage systems in urban areas.
