The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a new initiative aimed at simplifying the process of buying and selling vehicle plates, as well as transferring plate ownership through the use of the UAE Pass.
According to RTA, the service has been designed to ease the process of selling and buying vehicle number plates among the public. The entire procedure is carried out in an official and verified manner, with both parties signing a Sales Purchase Agreement (SPA) for the plate ownership transfer document using their UAE Pass. This eliminates the need to physically visit customer happiness centers, ultimately saving time and effort for RTA’s clients and contributing to their overall satisfaction.
For the process to run smoothly, the seller and buyer must agree in advance on the sales price and payment method, adhering to the applicable terms and conditions. The seller is required to obtain the buyer’s details, including their UAE Pass, telephone number, or traffic file. Subsequently, the selling and buying process is officially registered using the verified UAE Pass. The final step involves paying the prescribed service fees.
This initiative aligns with RTA’s commitment to a digital transformation drive, utilizing the latest technologies to enhance the level of services provided to the community. The move is in line with the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, as part of the broader goal to position Dubai as the world’s smartest city.
