Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the Sasta Petrol Sasta Diesel Scheme 2022 after the Federal Government raised prices of petroleum products in the country. Finance Minister Miftah Ismail explained the process to apply for the Sasta Petrol Sasta Diesel Package 2022 by sending SMS with CNIC number to 786.
However, the people sending their CNIC number through SMS to 786 while applying for the Sasta Petrol Sasta Diesel Program are not getting any response in return. The online registration for the Petrol Subsidy Program opened a few days back after the government announced an increase of Rs. 30 per litre in the price of petroleum products in Pakistan.
It is pertinent to mention that Finance Minister Miftah Ismail mentioned that response will take two to three days and people will be informed for their eligibility. Therefore, it is recommended to wait for that period of time after sending your CNIC details to 786.

Under the Sasta Petrol Sasta Diesel Scheme 2022, the government is providing a subsidy of Rs. 2,000 to households with income less than Rs. 40,000 through the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP). According to Finance Minister Miftah Ismail, the households that are already part of the BISP will automatically receive the Rs. 2,000 under the initiative, while households not part of BISP will need to send their CNIC to 786.
Furthermore, he added that the CNIC should belong to a women as the subsidy under the Sasta Petrol Sasta Diesel Program will only be transferred to a women head of the household, which has an income of less than Rs. 40,000. He said the subsidy amount was equal to five percent of these families’ total income, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
It is pertinent to mention that the federal government has increased the price of petroleum products by another Rs. 30 per litre, making it a Rs. 60 per litre increase in a week. after the announcement of the Fuel Subsidy Program. The new Price of Petrol is now Rs. 209.86 per litre, while High-Speed Diesel (HSD) is being sold at Rs. 204.15 per litre.
