Sawan Sai commits suicide after girlfriend is raped in front of him

19 year old Sawan Sai commits suicide after his 17 year old girlfriend was gang raped in front of him.

The horrific incident took place in the Chattisgarh’s Korba district, 225km north of the state capital early this September.

According to the police the girl was raped on September 1, 2018by two men named Ishwar Das (22) and Khem Kanwar (21).

The rape incident was disclosed when the girl lodged a complaint on Wednesday. Case has been registered under POSCO ACT and section 306 of IPC. Both the accused have been arrested.

Police have confirmed that the incident took place on September 1, and Sawan Sai committed suicide on September 3. The girl narrated the whole incident on Wednesday, twelve days later.

The girl and Sawan Sai were confronted by two youth Ishwar Das and Khem when they were coming back from a local market. Both the accused approached in motorbike, began to question them and also objected to roaming around with a girl. They even snatched the mobile phones.

They both attacked Sawan Sai, the girl tried to escape to get some help but she was chased and dragged back to where Sawan Sai was. Both the men gang rapped her in front of Sawan, who was lying bleeding on the road.

Both the girl and Sawan Sai were left badly injured. Sawan Sai went in a state of shock after the incident and was found hanging from the ceiling fan the next day.

Investigations are underway.
