The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that it will not be issuing fresh banknotes for Eid ul Fitr 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Like last year, we will not be issuing new banknotes on Eid ul Fitr due to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic,” said the SBP in a statement.
The decision has been taken by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) as the country’s positivity rate has climbed past 10 percent with over 5,000 coronavirus cases being reported on a daily basis.
According to the data provided by the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC), there were 5,480 people who tested positive for COVID-19 from a total of 57,013 tests that were conducted across the country during the last 24 hours.
Therefore, the State Bank of Pakistan has taken the decision not to issue fresh banknotes this Eid ul Fitr 2021 as government has urged people to take precautions and not to celebrate Eid with usual grandeur this year while the country battles the third wave of the coronavirus.
