The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has imposed Section 144 in the province following the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Imran Khan.
According to the details, the decision comes as a response to potential civil unrest and protests arising from Imran Khan’s arrest.
Section 144 prohibits the assembly of more than four people in a public place, which means PTI workers and supporters will be unable to hold any protests.
Earlier today, PTI Chairman Imran Khan was arrested from his Zaman Park home in Lahore and taken to Islamabad after a District and Sessions Court ruled against the 70-year-old cricketer-turned-politician in the Toshakhana case.
The court sentenced Imran Khan to 3 years imprisonment and rejected the Former Prime Minister’s appeal against declaring the case maintainable.
Furthermore, he has also been fined Rs. 100,000 and it the fine is not submitted, the jail term will exceed for another six months.
