The caretaker Punjab Government has imposed Section 144 in Lahore for seven days due to prevailing law and order situation in the city and the upcoming PSL 8 matches.
According to the notification, the Punjab Government has imposed Section 144 in three areas of Lahore, including Mian Mir Bridge to Istanbul Chowk, Civil Secretariat and its adjacent areas, and Main Boulevard Gulberg.
The decision to impose Section 144 was taken as large number of rallies and protests are held in these areas on daily basis, which not only poses a threat to security but also disrupts traffic and causes inconvenience to public at large.
Furthermore, the notification added PSL 8 matches are about the start in Lahore 26th February 2023 and a lot of spectators are expected to visit Qaddafi Stadium via Main Boulevard. Therefore, the Government has imposed Section 144 in these areas of Lahore.
Under Section 144, the public is prohibited from holding any and all kinds of Assemblies, Gatherings, Sit-ins, Rallies, Processions, Demonstrations, Jalsas, Dharnas, Protests, and Protests and other similar activities in the mentioned areas of Lahore.
