The Kalash Summer Festival (UCHAL 2024) is scheduled to be held from August 20th to 22nd, 2024, in the Rumbur and Bumburate valleys, imposed Section 144 of the CrPC in the Kalash valleys during the festival.
This religious event is marked by reverence and dignity, but past incidents involving unscrupulous elements disguised as tourists have raised concerns.
To ensure the safety and sanctity of the festival, and to protect the Kalash culture, the Deputy Commissioner of Lower Chitral, Mohsin Iqbal, has imposed Section 144 of the CrPC in the Kalash valleys during the festival.
Key Restrictions During the Festival:
- Motorcyclists without proper identification (CNIC, Passport, or Driving License) are banned from entering the Kalash habitat.
- Vehicles like Suzuki vans with open roofs are prohibited, especially those carrying passengers who camp outdoors and light fires without permission, polluting the environment.
- Tourists without registered guides are barred from entering the area or moving around.
- Display of weapons and unauthorized photography or videography of Kalash women are strictly prohibited.
These orders will be enforced in Lower Chitral from August 20th to 22nd, 2024. Violation of any of these rules will result in legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
The public and tourists are urged to respect the Kalash culture and cooperate with local authorities to ensure a peaceful and respectful celebration of the festival.
