The Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, has announced that the Shawwal moon was not sighted, which means Eid-ul-Fitr 2022 in Pakistan will be celebrated on Tuesday (3 May 2022).
The main meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony in Islamabad with Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad in the chair. Meanwhile, the zonal committees met for the sighting of the Shawwal moo in their respective areas.
Earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had stated that there was no chance of sighting the Shawwal moon on 1st May 2022 due to unfavorable weather conditions and the moon being not old enough. According to the details, the age of the moon is 17 hours, and according to the PMD, the age of the moon needs to be at least 19 hours in order to be sighted.
It is pertinent to mention North Waziristan in Pakistan and Afghanistan are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr 2022 today after sighting the Shawwal moon yesterday.
