The Sindh Home Department has imposed a ban on public display of weapons across the province for a three-month period on the recommendation of Rangers.
According to the notification, all private security guards can carry weapons at their job site only, while display of weapons in vehicles will be strictly prohibited and FIRs will be registered against violation of the order.
The restriction has been imposed on the request of Director General of the Pakistan Rangers under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
However, the ban would not be applicable on personnel of police and other law enforcement agencies during their duty hours. As mentioned above, private security guards will be allowed to carry weapons at their place of duty only.
Meanwhile, there will be a complete restriction on public display of weapons in vehicles during transportation. Although, they are allowed to keep weapons inside of vehicles.
The SHOs of all police stations have been authorized to register complaints under the Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code over violation of the ban.
