The Sindh government has introduced a new program to provide interest-free loans for installing solar systems, aimed at improving energy access for the middle class.
This initiative was announced by Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah during a media address at his residence, where he also extended Eid greetings.
Minister Shah emphasized the government’s dedication to tackling regional challenges through well-planned budget allocations. He highlighted the ongoing issue of electricity shortages affecting more than 200,000 households in Sindh.
As a solution, the government has set a target to electrify 500,000 households annually by providing solar systems capable of powering basic essentials like a fan and three light bulbs to the most underserved homes.
As part of this initiative, individuals who wish to install solar systems on their own can take advantage of interest-free loans. The Sindh government will cover the interest on these loans, making it easier for people to switch to solar energy.
Shah also shared plans to construct two new grid stations in each district across Sindh. This development is part of a broader effort to enhance the region’s energy infrastructure, improve access to electricity, and promote sustainable energy solutions throughout the province.
