Sindh Govt Introduces Smart Cards for Motor Vehicle Registration

The Government of Sindh Introduces Motor Vehicle Registration Smart Card replacing old booklets. The smart cards come with security features and ease of access as compared to older registration books and allow greater flexibility to the authorities to verify vehicles anywhere across the province.

According to  Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation Mr Mukesh Kumar Chawla, the new smart cards to eliminate forgery and scam in vehicle registration.

Although considering the facts, Smart Cards will not be helpful to eliminate forgery and scams, Sindh Excise & Taxation department is well known for the corruption in Motor Vehicle and Property Taxes.

Sindh Government was the first one to issue Computerized Registration in Pakistan back in 90s and this time once again ahead of other provinces. The first ever Online Vehicle verification was introduced by Sindh Excise & Taxation.

It contains a sim card module that can be linked to an electronic reader to verify a vehicle’s data including, Vehicle owners name, CNIC/Passport Details, Chassis number, Registration number, Date of Registration, Engine Number, Previous registration, Token tax expiry date, Number of Cylinder, Type of body, Colour of vehicle, Maker’s Name, Class of vehicle, Year of manufacturing, Seating capacity, Horsepower/CC and others.
