The Sindh Government has announced revised business hours and instructed markets, restaurants, and marriage halls to close at 9pm in order to save electricity. According to the details, the decision will remain in force from June 17 (today) to July 16.
The announcement comes as the Sindh Home Department issued a notification with revised business hours in light of the increased power outages in the city. However, the new rules are not applicable to medical stores, pharmacies, hospitals, petrol pumps, CNG stations, bakeries, and milk shops.
The notification said that due to the power outages, load shedding of electricity and in order to reduce the shortfall between supply and demand of the electricity, there is urgent need to take the effective measures for the conservation of energy in Sindh.
The added that Sindh Government has devised a two-pronged balanced approach to utilize the day light hours for business activities and to minimize the possible adverse impact on the business activities. Therefore, the following business hours will be implemented in Sindh in order to conserve energy.
- All the Markets, Bazars, Shops, and Shopping Malls shall be closed by 9:00PM (except Medical Stores, Pharmacies, Hospitals, Petrol Pumps, CNG Stations, Bakeries and Milk Shops).
- All the Marriage Halls, Banquets and Marriage Functions shall be closed by 10:30PM.
- All the Hotels, Restaurants, Coffee Shops and Cafes shall be closed by 11:00PM.
The new business hours in Sindh will take effect from June 17 (today) until July 16 and the copy of the notification is attached below for reference:
