The Government of Sindh has decided to move winter vacations in the province to 3 January 2022 in line with the guidelines of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC).
In an official notification, the Sindh Home Department has instructed all educational institutions in the province, which includes all public and private schools and colleges, to being winter vacations in Sindh from 3 January 2022 as decided by the NCOC.
Earlier, the Provincial Government announced winter vacations from 20 December 2021 to 1 January 2022 with educational institutions resuming normal academic activities from 3 January 2022. The decision was taken on 9 December 2021 long before the Inter-Provincial Educational Ministers Conference or the NCOC announced the agreed-upon dates.
The Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference, chaired by Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood, had decided to announce winter holidays in the country from 25 December 2021, but the NCOC meeting had decided to move the winter vacations in the country to end of January 2022 in order to continue the ongoing vaccination campaign in schools.
However, the decision caused massive uproar on social media and the NCOC had finally decided to start winter vacations from 3 January 2022. However, the Government of Sindh had already announced winter vacations in the province and now the Sindh Home Department has issued a notification calling for schools to start the winter break from 3 January 2022 as per the guidelines provided by the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC).
