KARACHI: The Sindh Police has announced that it will introduce an online service allowing citizens to obtain their driving licenses (DLS) from their homes.
The decision was made during a meeting at the Central Police Office (CPO), chaired by Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon. The meeting focused on facilitating the issuance of driving licenses through an online platform, and the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Driving License Branch Sindh provided a detailed briefing on various aspects of this initiative.
According to the DIG, the online driving license service will be operational starting next week. This service will enable citizens to apply for new learning licenses, renew existing licenses, and even obtain international driving licenses online.
The briefing highlighted that the online facility would include comprehensive details about the process, applicable license fees, and the designated banks for fee collection. Applicants will be required to submit medical fitness certificates and B-forms for both license renewals and permanent licenses.
The DIG specified that medical fitness certificates and B-forms must be obtained from authorized private or government hospitals. Additionally, proposals are being considered to facilitate overseas Pakistanis with medical fitness and B-form submissions for international driving license renewals.
IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon proposed that the online driving license service be launched initially on an experimental basis. He also suggested the future introduction of a mobile van facility to further enhance convenience for citizens.
“The purpose of issuing online driving licenses is to provide adequate facilities to the citizens,” said IGP Memon. He emphasized that driving license data will be digitized using modern technology, ensuring a streamlined and efficient process for all applicants.
This initiative represents a significant step towards modernizing the services provided by the Sindh Police, aiming to improve accessibility and convenience for the public.
