Sindh Recommends Containment Measures for New COVID-19 Variant

The Government of Sindh has given recommendations to the Health Department for the containment of a new COVID-19 variant, which is causing the resurgence of the coronavirus infection related morbidities and mortalities in global proximities.

According to the notification, the Government has recommended that all inbound passenger on flights from China be tested for COVID-19 at the airports. In case of positive results, the persons shall be quarantine until they become negative for the contagion.

It added that a huge number of false negative cases of new COVID-19 variant are also being reported so any person showing symptoms similar to COVID-19 should be isolated and tested on PCR for confirmation.

Furthermore, the serology tests of confirmed positive cases will be carried out. “Mandatory administration of COVID-19 vaccine booster dose with Pfizer Bivalent to citizens who got inoculated 6 months ago.” the notification added.

The Government of Sindh also recommended the establishment of isolation centers for positive cases and those with symptoms but showing negative tests, adding that COVID-19 patients must undergo chest X-rays as a part of Pneumonia investigation.

Moreover, COVID-19 vaccination will be mandatory for international and domestic traveling and mass gathering is to be avoided and wearing masks should be mandatory in public places.
