KARACHI – Door-to-door verification process of voters will commence from Thursday (today) in Karachi and NADRA has provided electoral lists as per Election Commission directives in this respect.Citing Defence Ministry sources media reported Army and all other forces would be responsible to provide security to Election Commission staff during the course of verification of voters.Meanwhile, Election Commission declared whole Karachi sensitive before a day of voter list verification drive as the paramilitary forces reached the City.
Provincial Election Commissioner Karachi Mehboob Anwar said that the employees of the Election Commission would visit thrice for each voter verification after which voter will not be eligible to cast his vote in the upcoming elections.While addressing a Press conference at his office, he declared that the whole Karachi sensitive as they will continue the verification drive alongwith law- enforcers including Pak Army.He said that the staffers of Election Commission will verify the name of voters either existed in the list or not.
He said that the process of voter verification would be completed peacefully and we do not find any hurdle during the campaign. EC staff will continuously work in the City without any gap and ensure that the all voters are verified in the campaign, he added.
Commissioner Karachi Hashim Raza Zaidi assured cooperation and said that district management will give all essential resources to the staffers of Election Commission at district level and also assured to establish control rooms across the City.
