KARACHI: Sarim Burney, a prominent social activist and entrepreneur, and head of the Sarim Burney Welfare Trust International, a non-profit organization, has been arrested in Karachi on charges of human smuggling.
Burney was apprehended at Karachi airport by the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell of the FIA wing upon his arrival from the United States, according to FIA sources.
The arrest was the result of a joint operation by the FIA and an international agency, sources revealed. Burney is facing serious charges of human trafficking.
Sarim Burney, a Pakistani entrepreneur and Chairman of the Sarim Burney Welfare Trust, has been recognized for his extensive humanitarian work. Since its establishment, the Trust has assisted many underprivileged and victimized individuals, including children, women, and men. The organization is dedicated to helping Pakistanis in distress and need of assistance.
