Strong earthquake shakes Balochistan and Sindh – Pakistan

Earthquake – Measuring 7.8 at the Richter scale jolted parts of Balochistan and Sindh on Tuesday. The United States Geological Survey said that a 7.8 magnitude quake struck 145 miles southeast of Dalbandin, in Pakistan’s western province of Balochistan.

According to reports, tremors were felt in Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Quetta, Khuzdar, Noshki, Chagi, Pasni, Gwadar and many parts of Balochistan and Sindh. Tremors were felt  across the province as well as in the port city of Karachi, residents have said. Mild tremors were also felt as far away as the Indian capital of New Delhi.

The epicentre is in a remote, thinly populated mountainous area of Balochistan with no major industrial installations.

Casualties are being reported and emergency was declared in Awaran district of Balochistan over reports of damages. The quake was felt at 4:30pm in Karachi, Quake was also felt in Indian capital of New Delhi and parts of Iran bordering Pakistan.
