TeleHealth Portal & Services now officially launched

Prime Minister Imran Khan has launched the TeleHealth Portal and services in Pakistan under the Digital Pakistan initiative aimed at helping people get free consultations with doctors who sign up with the programme to volunteer their services.

Tania Aidrus briefed about the TeleHealth Portal to the Prime Minister who was also present at the launch ceremony together with the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza.

Doctors can go to telehealth.gov.pk to register on the TeleHealth Portal through a very simple signup process after which they will go through a verification to confirm their credentials.

Similarly anyone who wants to get a free consultation from a doctor can simply WhatsApp at 0300-1111166 or Click here. This is the Government’s Official Corona Chatbot Service where you will get a variety of options and the latest information on the coronavirus pandemic.

Now this services has added an option of which you can select if you want to Speak to a doctor after which you will be connected to one of the hundred of doctors who have signed up for the TeleHealth Portal.

Prime Minister Imran Khan speaking at the launch ceremony for the TeleHealth Portal also urged female doctors to register for the portal as they could help women in rural areas of the country where they had limited access to such facilities.

According to the Prime MInister, the government will continue with this service even after the end of the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking at the ceremony the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza said that about 70 percent of female doctors in the country did not practice and they should volunteer their services here and they will be able to do this from home.

He also said that even though coronavirus has had a negative impact on Pakistan and its citizens it has also had its upsides such as the rise of new initiatives like the TeleHealth Portal.
