What is a Tornado?
A tornado is a vortex or a rotating column of air that extends from a thunderstorm to the floor (or even to the ground). It shows itself as a funnel-shaped twister and is typically accompanied by severe winds and devastating conditions.
What Causes a Tornado?
The formation of a tornado is mostly a result of collisions between warm, moist air and cold, dry air, causing an atmospheric unsteadiness. This air mass collision may give rise to thunderstorms but this, in turn, may become conducive for tornadoes to develop. The admixture of wind patterns, temperature swings, and atmospheric pressure makes tornadoes to occur and be powerful.
Is Tornado Occurrence Common in Pakistan?
Although tornadoes are not as common as in other regions with high rates of tornadoes, they still occur in Pakistan, especially during bad weather conditions. Pakistan also has wide range of weather patterns, which includes thunderstorms and strong winds that sometimes lead to the formation of tornadoes. On the other hand, they are a lot rarer than in the USA where the twister activity is more common.
