Two flight attendants from Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) went missing upon reaching Canada following their flight from Islamabad to Toronto.
According to a statement from a PIA spokesperson, the two individuals, Khalid Afridi and Fida Shah, arrived in Canada on flight PK-772 from Islamabad. However, when the scheduled return flight to Pakistan reached Toronto, the two crew members failed to show up, leading to the national flag carrier proceeding without them, the spokesperson explained.
In response to the situation, the PIA spokesperson stated that the local Canadian authorities have been informed, and strict actions will be taken against both individuals after a thorough investigation is conducted.
This incident adds to a growing number of instances where members of the national airline, including both female air hostesses and male cabin crew, have managed to leave the country.
In a similar occurrence in July, a PIA steward went ‘missing’ from a hotel in Toronto after arriving from Lahore. The disappearance of flight steward Muntazir Mehdi was discovered when he didn’t report for duty on the return flight to Pakistan. The airline management and Canadian immigration authorities were notified of the situation.
Before Mehdi, four flight stewards and air hostesses from the national airline had previously entered Canada, presumably seeking citizenship.
