To usher in the New Year, UAE’s Umm Al Quwain Police declared on Saturday that drivers planning to travel to Ras Al Khaimah should seek alternative routes due to upcoming road closures for New Year’s celerbations.
In an Instagram announcement, the authority conveyed, “Drivers, please be advised that access to Ras Al Khaimah will be restricted.”
The following routes will be off-limits during the festivities:
- Al Ittihad Street from Al Raafa area to Al Marjan Island
- Exit 110 toward Ras Khaimah Emirate on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Street
For those heading from Umm Al Quwain to Al Raafa area, Al Ittihad Street is the only available route. These closures will be effective only on Sunday, December 31, 2023, starting from 2 pm. Refer to the road closure map below for details.
The breathtaking fireworks in Ras Al Khaimah, known for breaking Guinness World Records annually for the past five years, will make a grand return with unprecedented choreography and techniques. Spanning the 4.5km waterfront between Al Marjan Island and Al Hamra Village, the display aims to set new records.
Residents and visitors can choose from two events to witness the spectacle. A free public gathering will feature DJ entertainment, kids’ activities, food trucks, and designated areas for both bachelors and families. Alternatively, a private ticketed event named Soundfest will showcase international artists, a kids’ area, and a diverse array of culinary options.
