The government of UAE has recently launched a new initiative dubbed as “Work Bundle” to facilitate the employees of the private sector companies to process residency formalities and acquire their work permits effortlessly. The main idea of the initiative, which was born in Dubai and had to be extended to other emirates, is to simplify procedures and ensure fast and accurate work.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the vice-president, prime minister of the UAE, and the ruler of Dubai, has launched an initiative to enhance government procedures and get rid of bureaucracy by naming it “Zero Bureaucracy.” Under this initiative, the UAE government of has launched the “Employment Package,” which is designed to simplify and streamline processes related to residency and employment.
Furthermore, the Employment Package will help reclaim 62 million days previously wasted on procedures for residency and employment contracts within the government framework. The innovation brings together all the necessary services under one platform so that individuals can minimize the number of steps, documents, and visits needed. This phasing out is thought to bring a drastic decrease in the time taken to complete transactions, from 30 business days to only 5.
The “Work Bundle” is a framework that provides the possibility of computerizing processes and facilitates data exchange between appropriate government departments. It is in line with the UAE’s digital transformation targets. It achieves the goal of a wider reform that is directed against excessive bureaucracy, and brings about efficiency in different sectors.
The project is being coordinated by government agencies at the federal and local level, among them are the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, and others.
Digital Dubai ensures data transfer is done without any glitch. The campaign is part of the Invest in Dubai Platform, which is aims to give services to over 275,000 companies in Dubai. The Director General of GDRFA Dubai, Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri predicts that this electronic system will generate a 25% increase in the number of service transactions.
“Work Bundle” not only automates procedures for obtaining services but also improves the customer experience by significantly cutting time and effort for the procedures. It is estimated to cancel up to thousands of operations, visits, and work days a year, which is good for both employees and employers.
The process of hiring new foreign employees outside the country involves filing one application, securing a work permit, and completing residency procedures. Renewal services demand the same steps as above, with the company owner starting the process and the employee doing the required testing and document submission.
