The UAE is preparing for severe weather conditions starting from Friday evening until Sunday, with heavy rainfall, lightning, thunder, and occasional hail forecasted across the country. The National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) collaborated with the Ministry of Interior and the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) to provide updates on Thursday, March 7.

He mentioned the Joint Assessment Team for Weather and Tropical Situations, led by NCEMA, which held meetings to monitor the low-pressure system expected to move through the country.

Dr. Mohammed Al Ibri, official spokesperson of NCM, emphasized the anticipated unstable weather conditions, including heavy rainfall, lightning, thunder, and occasional hail. He explained how the center analyzes weather maps and data, closely monitoring satellite images and radar networks across various emirates, enabling effective monitoring and issuance of necessary reports and warnings.
Brigadier General Ali Al Tunaiji, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, stressed the ministry’s priority of public safety and protection of lives and property. He assured complete readiness of police teams and strategic partners from civil defense, ambulance, and rescue services to respond to any emergency situation.
NCM advised caution, urging people to avoid going to the sea, areas prone to flash floods, places with water accumulation, and areas where hail is likely to fall. They emphasized following instructions from relevant authorities to prevent unforeseen incidents and wished safety for all.
Regarding education, Brigadier General Ali Al Tunaiji stated that decisions regarding transitioning to distance learning will be made by emergency crisis and disaster management teams in each emirate, particularly in areas expected to be significantly impacted.
The weather forecast from Friday to Sunday indicates partly cloudy to overcast skies, with clouds increasing gradually over southern and western areas on Thursday night to Friday afternoon, potentially leading to light to moderate rainfall.
