US travel blogger, Arbela Arpi, better known as ‘The Spicy Travel Girl’, was allegedly gang-raped at a local hotel at Dera Ghazi Khan’s Fort Munro by tourist-guides.
According to the details, a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under Section 376, 292B of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and investigation is underway into the tragic incident.
The prime suspects, Muzzammil Shehzad and Abid, who were hired by the victim, have been arrested by the police from Rajanpur on Tuesday.
The suspects will be presented before the court in Dera Ghazi Khan for further action.
According to Arbela Arpi, she was staying at a local hotel in Fort Munro on the night of July 17, when Muzzammil Shehzad and Abid raped her.
In a statement, The Spicy Travel Girl told police that she had reached Lahore from Karachi on July 15 and hired the services of Muzzammil Shehzad and Abid, the two tourist guides, who first took her to Rajanpur, then to Jampur and eventually to Fort Munro, where she was raped.
She also alleged that the suspects made videos during the incident.
Furthermore, the victim will undergo a medical examination and the accused will be shifted to Lahore for DNA testing.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz has taken notice of the incident and sought a report from the province’s top cop. He added that accused will be punished and justice will be provided to the victim.
