A violent clash between student groups at Quaid-e-Azam University in Islamabad has led to a police case filed at the Secretariat Police Station. The case was registered by university security officer Nadeem Abbas, and it includes charges of attempted murder, assault, and aerial firing, according to police.
The FIR details that on Thursday, one student group attacked another, using firearms, rods, and metal knuckles, resulting in injuries to eight students. Eleven students have been named in the FIR.
According to the FIR, the assailants also launched a second attack at Hostel No. 9, where they broke down doors and set furniture on fire. The incident reportedly involved a group of 180 to 200 Punjabi students who attacked a group of Pashtun students, injuring multiple individuals.
Following this, the attackers gathered in front of the gymnasium and continued to target Pashtun students, leaving eight of them injured. They were later referred to Polyclinic Hospital for further medical examination. The FIR alleges that the Punjabi students fired multiple rounds during the altercation, reportedly with assistance from outsiders, and caused injuries to the Pashtun students.
The FIR further states that the Punjabi students created terror on campus, endangering the lives of innocent students with firearms, damaging university property, and setting fire to doors, windows, and furniture, thereby disturbing the peaceful environment of the university.
Islamabad Police have initiated legal proceedings following the registration of the case and are investigating the incident further.
