The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has notified that rain and thunderstorm is expected in different areas of Punjab this week from Monday to Wednesday.
In a notification, the PDMA said that the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has informed that a westerly wave is likely to enter western parts of the country on 17th April (night) and likely to persist in upper part of the country till 20th April (Wednesday).
According to the weather update, there is rain and thunderstorm expected in parts of Punjab, including Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar, Sargodha, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Sing, Jhang, Sheikhupura, Lahore, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, and Gujrat from 18th April (evening/night) to 20th April.
Moreover, there might be dust storm and drizzle in Rajanpur, Multan, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Okara, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan on 17th and 18th April.
The weather update states that windstorm may cause damage to vulnerable structures and standing crop. Furthermore, PDMA has advised to remain alert and also take all necessary precautionary measures during the forecasted period to avoid any loss of life/property.
