Wife allegedly murdered in Karachi, husband arrested

KARACHI: A wife was allegedly murdered by in the Mahmoodabad area of Karachi and the husband identified as Shamshad Ahmed has been arrested along with his friend over suspicion of involvement in the crime.

According to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East, the police were initially informed that the wife committed suicide in Mahmoodabad No. 5 area of Karachi.

However, after further investigation into the cause of death, the husband was taken into custody along with his friend for suspicion of murder according to the police.

The couple married four months ago out of free will after the wife divorced her previous husband to marry Jamshed Ahmed and both were living in the Mahmoodabad area of Karachi before the wife was allegedly murdered.

Talking about the victim’s parents, SSP East said that they also cast suspicion over the death of their daughter and termed it a murder rather than suicide.

The body of the wife has been shifted to hospital for medico legal formalities to ascertain the cause of death according to the police.

Incidents involving domestic abuse have become common in Pakistan in recent months. Just last week, a husband killed his wife after she denied him permission for a second marriage.
