A distressing incident unfolded in Islamabad’s Blue Area on Thursday, where a woman was allegedly raped by a fake travel agent. The report states that the victim, identified as Sanam, had been contacted by a man named Assad Imran via social media. Imran allegedly portrayed himself as a visa consultant and enticed Sanam with the promise of facilitating a Dubai visa if she visited his office later in the day.
With her baby in tow, Sanam made her way to Imran’s office in the evening as instructed. However, upon arrival, the situation took a horrific turn. Sanam claimed that Imran, upon finding her alone, began making unwanted advances and resorted to threats. Allegedly, he threatened to harm her baby if she did not comply with his demands. Subsequently, the woman was subjected to a forcible rape.
In response to this harrowing ordeal, an FIR (First Information Report) was promptly lodged against the accused at the Kohsar police station. Furthermore, the police have started an investigation into matter to bring the suspect to justice.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability faced by individuals, especially women, in situations where trust is exploited for nefarious purposes. It underscores the importance of vigilance and caution, particularly when interacting with unfamiliar individuals, even in seemingly innocuous contexts such as visa applications.
It is pertinent to mention that another incident took place a few weeks when a 12-year-old minor girl was raped in Islamabad’s F-9 park.
