Motilal Prajapati leased a plot in the diamond mining area of Panna near Krishna Kalyanpur Patti village. Within weeks he stumbles upon a diamond worth Rs. 1.5 crore.

Mineral resource department said on Tuesday the diamond found is worth Rs.1.5 crore. A 50-year-old labor who hardly made a living as a menial worker in Madhya Pradesh’s Bundelkhand region, hit a fortune when he found the precious gem.
Motilal Prajapati took a plot measuring about 25 square feet on a lease near Krishna Kalyanpur Patti village in the diamond mining area of Panna, 413 kilometers north-east of Bhopal, on September 20 this year, according to Panna district mining officer Santosh Singh. He hit the jackpot within weeks.
When Motilal Prajapati came to know the worth of diamond, his first reaction was “I can’t believe my luck,”
He said from three generations from his grandfather to himself, they have been leasing lands in the diamond mining areas but never had found any diamond. He is happy that by the grace of God he has found a good value diamond.
He also said he will spend the money on educating his, providing a good life for parents and other needs in life like a good house, the marriage of my brothers’ daughters.
The diamond is estimated to weigh 42.59 carats, in 1961 man identified as Rasool Ahmad had found a 44.55-carat diamond in the Kachhua Tola area of the district.
The Diamond will be put for auction. The amount will be given to the person who has found the diamond after deduction of tax at the rate of 11%”.
