Hassan Ali Effendi’s grandson, Zain Ali Effendi, was murdered at his home in Karachi near Mazar-e-Quaid on Wednesday.
According to the details provided by police, unknown armed assailants entered his residence early Wednesday and shot him dead.
Zain Ali Effendi was the grandson of Hassan Ali Effendi, the founder of Karachi’s Sindh Madrasatul Islam, which was established in 1885.
Police officials say that five suspects, who arrived in a white Corolla, entered his home and remained in the house for up to 55 minutes.
“They had tied a servant in home with rope and pumped three bullets in the face of the victim,” according to police.
The killing of Zain Ali Effendi is currently under investigation and police are yet to determine whether this was a targeted killing or a robbery gone wrong.
