ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly has passed the Zainab Alert, Recovery and Response Bill with majority vote which is aimed at raising alert and taking timely action against the abduction and for recovery of missing children.
The bill which is named after Zainab, a six year old girl who was kidnapped, raped and murdered in 2018 will require all investigations related to cases of kidnapping, rape and murder of minor children to be completed in a period of three months.
According to the Zainab Alert Bill, the maximum sentence that can be given to child sexual abusers is life imprisonment with a Rs. 1 million fine of the minimum sentence of 10 years.

According to the Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari, the bill is be signed by the President Arif Alvi into law after which it will become an “Act of Parliament”.
She even took to Twitter to thank everyone involved in making this possible.
