The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (RHC) has announced the sighting of the Zil Hajj moon in Pakistan, which means that Eid ul Adha will be celebrated on 29 June 2023 (Thursday) across the country.
According to the details, the announcement for Eid ul Azha and beginning of the month of Zil Hajj was made after the moon sighting committee held a meeting under the chairmanship of Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad. Furthermore, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (RHC) also received testimonies of moon sighting from various cities, including Karachi, Lahore, and others.
Moreover, representatives of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, SUPARCO, Department of Meteorology, and Ministry of Science and Technology were also present at the meeting. Meanwhile, the zonal committees of Ruet-e-Hilal met in their respective cities.
The first of Zil Hajj will be observed tomorrow on 20 June 2023 (Tuesday), while Eid ul Adha will be celebrated on June 29 (Thursday) across Pakistan. It is pertinent to mention that the Met Office had already stated that birth of the moon would take place on the 18th of June, while could be sighted on the 19th.
Meanwhile, in Saudi Arabia, the crescent moon for Zil Hajj was sighted on June 18 with first day of the month of Zil Hajj bring observed on June 19. The Day of Arafah, which is considered the holiest in Islam, will be observed on June 27 (Tuesday) and Eid ul Adha will be celebrated on June 28 (Wednesday) across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
