The Jammu & Kashmir Cooperative Housing Society (JKCHS) is located near the 26-number GT Road Interchange and the Tarnol area. It unfolds into two sectors: G-15 and F-15. In this article, we will provide a review of both sectors and share the pros and cons of society.
Both these sectors lie on both sides of the GT Road that passes Rawalpindi/Islamabad and heads towards Taxila (Wah Cantt). Some part of G-15/1 lies on the other side of GT Road and is still under encroachment; however, that development is not within JKCHS society but rather within the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) since they have developed the G-14 sector. Similarly, vice versa, the F-15 is split into two portions due to the GT Road in between F-15/1 and some streets of F-15/2 are on the left side of the GT Road (Tarnol), whereas F-15/3 and 15/4 are on the other side of the GT Road that the FGEHA is also developing.
Here is the link to the complete G-15 Sector Map.
The management has no interest in the matter being corrected. Still, there may be some improvement at the time of the election, The management is inefficient and corrupt.
Water Shortage Problem
Water problems are also significant; most houses and markets depend on water tankers. There was a time when society provided a free tanker, then it turned into a half tanker that was required to be paid, and now it has become a wholly paid tanker. G-15 lacks a water supply, and F-15 partially requires a water tanker supply.
Internet Availability in G-15 and F-15
There are three Internet service providers available in sectors G-15 and F-15: Stormfiber, PTCL Flash Fiber, and NayaTel. All three are doing a great job.
Street Lights
Streetlights are present on the main roads and in a few streets within the G-15 sector. However, in F-15, streetlights are only available on the main road, leaving vast areas unlit. It is suggested that residents arrange streetlights for their streets independently, as the JKCHS administration does not prioritize this issue.
Road Condition and Accessibility
The primary access is from GT Road, next to Zarkoon Heights (Go Fuel Station). The approaches are promising, but you must make a U-turn on a very busy GT Road to access Srinagar Highway, which is quite dangerous. The roads are not paved adequately, with the streets of G-15 Markaz being broken and not fixed for years. The F-15 only has a mini Markaz operational, while the main F-15 Markaz is still not operational and does not have direct access from GT Road.
Parks
The initial layout of G-15 and F-15 was altered, so parks were removed from both societies, making it one of the worst societies for residents. People mostly walk on the roadsides; children do not have proper grounds, and teenagers prefer to play on the greenbelt between G-15 and F-15.
Crime Rate
The incidence of robberies and thefts is quite frequent in these sectors, although the JKCHS management provides security guards at the entrance and on the main roads, patrolling them at night on the streets. They also have CCTV cameras installed in different locations, but still, they cannot check these incidents. It is advised that you install a CCTV camera and arrange for a security guard in your street in G-15 and F-15.
Pros
The location of both these sectors is prime as they connect directly to GT Road, which is accessible easily from Taxila, Tarnol, towards Rawalpindi, and Islamabad. Within a 2-minute drive, you are on the main Srinagar Highway, heading towards the New Islamabad International Airport (15-minute drive) and the Motorway (10 minutes away).
The property value here is increasing day by day due to the location and rental value as well.
There are three supermarkets available in the G-15 Markaz: 1 Mart, HM Mart, and Dwatson. Additionally, almost all types of facilities are available, including banks like Askari, Faysal Bank, Allied Bank, Meezan Bank, Soneri Bank, United Bank, Bank Al Habib, HBL, and Bank Islami, all of which have ATMs installed and operational.
As previously mentioned, the main Markaz in F-15 is not functional. However, the mini Markaz in F-15/1 is the only location where essential items are available. Despite this, it lacks medical stores and banks, necessitating a trip to the G-15 Markaz for these services.
You will find fast food outlets, Quetta Tea, and other small restaurants here. Recently, the number of eateries has increased, and they remain open until 2 am.
Cons
G-15 and F-15 both lack community parks and have no proper setup of street lights. One of the major issues is the water supply; most residents in F-15 depend on underground bores, while in G-15, there is no underground water. Thus, the supply is solely dependent on water tankers.
Security issues are concerning in both these sectors. Although the Tarnol Police Station falls within the F-15/2 vicinity, it does not have access from inside the sector and is located on the main GT Road.
It is worth mentioning that the Islamabad Authority treats CDA sectors and cooperative housing societies differently. Cooperative housing societies do not fall directly under the management of the CDA, so the difference is visible. The third type is private societies, which are completely out of the radar of the Islamabad Administration.
We hope that we have covered all the essential information about JKCHS G-15 and F-15 sectors to help you make your decision. Security concerns are alarming all across Islamabad, with incidents occurring even in CDA sectors, cooperative societies, and private societies. However, the water issue is the main problem here, and the Markaz roads are in dire condition. The JKCHS management is not interested in resolving the common issues residents face.
