Pakistani javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, has bagged a gold medal for the country during the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games (CWC) in Birmingham.
Arshad Nadeem achieved 86.81 meter throw during the first round, while recording an 88 meter throw in the second attempt, follow by an 85.09 meter throw in the fourth attempt to remain on the top of the list.
In the fifth attempt, he was able to set a new Commonwealth Games (CWC) record of a 90.18 meter throw and became the first Pakistani to hold the record.
The Olympian was able to beat India’s Neeraj Chopra’s Tokyo Olympic throw of 87.58 meter (Gold) and World Athletics Championship throw of 88.13 meter.
It is pertinent to mention that it is the second gold medal for Pakistan in the Commonwealth Games 2022 after Nooh Dastagir won the gold medal for a record weightlift of 405kg.
