Argentinian football legend Diego Maradona has died aged 60 after suffering a heart attack on Wednesday according to his lawyers.
The World Cup winner had a heart attack at his home in Tigre just weeks after he underwent surgery for subdural haematoma (brain clot).
Diego Maradona was regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, helping Argentina win the World Cup in 1986 as captain at the pinnacle of his career.
In total, the former athlete bagged 34 goals in 91 appearances for his football team. He also played club football for Boca Juniors, Napoli and Barcelona among others.
The footballer was adored by millions for his skills but he was also center of many controversies due to his drug and alcohol addiction. However, he was receiving treatment for alcohol dependency.
Tributes are pouring in from all over the world after the Maradona’s lawyer broke the news of his passing which was referred to as a “worldwide impact” by the Argentinian news outlet Clarin.
