The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that Pakistan Super League 2023 (PSL 8) Final will be played on Saturday (18 March 2023) at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
According to the details, the decision has been taken in light of the bad weather forecast and ongoing political instability in Lahore.
The PSL 8 Final will now be played on Saturday (18 March 2023) at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore with Sunday and Monday to be treated reserves days.
Earlier, the PSL 8 Final was scheduled to be played on 19 March 2023 (Sunday).
“The HBL PSL 8 is our marquee event. All the teams aim and prepare whole year to not only feature in the final but to lift the Supernova Trophy, while the passionate cricket fans also wait anxiously to see their favorite team being crowned as the champion.” Chair of PCB Management Committee, Najam Sethi, stated.
“As such, and on the basis of available information about bad weather forecast, it is a sensible and proactive approach that we use the off-day and play the final on Saturday, and utilize Sunday along with Monday as reserve days. This will give us two reserve days in case the match cannot be completed or played on Saturday instead of the traditional one day.” he added.
Furthermore, he said that there will be no inconvenience to the cricket fans as tickets for the PSL 8 Final on Sunday will be valid for the Saturday’s reschedule match.
It is pertinent to mention that Multan Sultans have qualified for the PSL 8 Final, while the first eliminator between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi takes place today. The winner of today’s match will move to Eliminator 2 and go up against Lahore Zalmi, with the victorious team moving to the final against Multan Sultans.
