Australia defeated Pakistan by 62 runs in the 18th match of the ICC World Cup 2023 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, India, on Friday.
Pakistan managed to score 305 runs against the a 368-run target set by Australia, courtesy of a 259-run partnership between David Warner and Mitchell Marsh.
Pakistan were off to a great start with 134-run partnership between openers Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique, a first for Pakistani openers against Australia in a World Cup match.
However, Abdullah Shafique was dismissed after scoring 64 runs and Imam soon followed with just 70 runs.
Pakistan needed another strong partnership but Babar Azam was removed for just 18 runs courtesy of a catch by Pat Cummins and kept on losing wickets at regular intervals.
Iftikhar Ahmed managed to restore hope after hitting some boundaries, but was later removed for just 26 runs.
Australia managed to restrict Pakistan to just 305 and won the match by 62 runs.
