India crushed Sri Lanka to win the Asia Cup 2023 on Sunday, which is their eight Asia Cup title since 1984.
Earlier in the day, Sri Lanka had won the toss and elected to bat first, however, India was able to restrict the team at 50 runs in just 15.2 overs.
India’s Mohammad Siraj took six wickets, four of which came in a single over, while conceding only 21 runs.
Only two Sri Lankan batters managed to get into double figures, with Dushan Hamantha scoring an unbeaten 13 runs and Kusal Mendes adding another 17 runs.
This is the lowest score total in the history of Asia Cup since the previous record held by Bangladesh, who scored 87 runs against Pakistan in 2000.
India’s batting side sailed through the 51 target runs in just 6.1 overs with 10 wickets in hand.
