Lahore Qalandars defeated Multan Sultans by 20 runs in Match 20 of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 8 2023) at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Lahore won the toss and elected to bat first, which gave them the chance to set a target of 181 for Multan Sultans thanks to Abdullah Shafique and Sam Billings, the only two batter who managed to score decent runs.
Meanwhile, the rest of the batting lineup failed miserably and barely managed to score over 20 runs. The openers failed to perform as well with Fakhar Zaman was dismissed for 0 in just 3 balls, while Mirza Tahir Baig scoring just 17 runs.
Abdullah Shafique and Sam Billings managed to give Lahore Qalandars a boost with their 48 and 54 runs, respectively. Furthermore, Sikandar Mirza managed to score 14 runs, while Hussain Talat barely reached 9 runs before being dismissed.
David Wiese, who came to the pitch towards the end managed to score 15 runs off 12 balls, while Rashid Khan and Haris Rauf scored nothing and were sent packing, which is not surprising since they are bowlers.
Shaheen Afridi also managed to add 9 runs to the 181 target set by Lahore Qalandars.
Multan Sultans got off to a decent start while chasing the 181-run target with Mohammad Rizwan and Shan Masood scoring 44 runs during the powerplay. However, Masood was dismissed in the seventh over with just 19 runs, while Rizwan managed to go on and score 30 runs from 27 balls.
Things took a turn as Usama Mir was unable to score more than 17 runs and he was dismissed in just 11 balls, while Rilee Rossouw was sent to the pavilion after scoring only 12 runs and David Miller followed with just 1 run.
Kieron Pollard and Khushdil Shah were only able to score 10 and 17 runs, respectively, while Abbas Afridi managed 4 runs.
