LAHORE: Former test cricketer and captain Rameez Raja took the charge as the new Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman on Monday and held a press conference along with 92 WorldCup teammates and PCB Board members.
Mr Ramiz Raja has been elected unanimously and unopposed as Pakistan Cricket Board’s 36th Chairman for a three-year term in a Special Meeting presided over by PCB Election Commissioner, Mr Justice (retd) Sheikh Azmat Saeed.
PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja said Pakistan Cricket’s compress needs a reset, following the footsteps of his Captain in 92 WorldCup and present Prime Minister Imran Khan vows to fix the Cricketing in the country.
“I always thought that if I got the chance [to serve] at this position then I would reset the vision a bit. I think cricket’s compass and direction need to be reset. There are some long-term and some short-term goals,” he said.
Ramiz Raja said, I am not here for a photoshoot neither he’s desperate for fame, I have seen it all instead, my focus is to fix the direction and restructure Pakistan Cricket Board, I am here to fix the club cricket, first-class cricket and Pakistan Cricket Board structure so that new talent gets appreciation and all together PCB lifts the cricket standards.
