Pakistan won its first gold accolade at the 2025 World Special Olympics Winter Games, on Friday.
Afaq Khan claimed victory in the 100-meter snowshoeing competition, thus earning Pakistan a gold medal during the World Special Olympics Winter Games being held in Italy.
This was the third gold medal for the country during this competition.
Earlier, Muneeb-ur-Rehman won the gold medal in the 50 meters cross-country skiing while his countrywoman, Raveena Qurban, won silver in the female final.
Moazzam Iqbal of Pakistan was also able to claim gold in cross-country skiing when he won the 800-meter snowshoeing race.
Here, it should be noted that Pakistani athletes outmatched every expectation in performance at the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025, and bagged four medals.
Currently, as the last leg of the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025 started, it became possible for Pakistani athletes to win individual medals, claiming one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals so far.
Pakistani athletes were able to bring home four medals while participating in the Special Olympics World Winter Games being held in Turin, Italy.
Muneeb ur Rehman took home a gold medal in the 50-meter cross-country skiing competition. Raveena Qurban followed closely behind, earning a silver medal in the women’s final of the same event. Ali Raza and Abdul Saboor also won bronze medals in the 200-meter snowshoeing event.
