Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and elected to bat first, which was certainly the right decision as they set a target of 243 runs for the Multan Sultans after a wonderful starting partnership between Saim Ayub and Babar Azam, who scored 134 runs together.
Individually, Saim Ayub racked up 58 runs from 33 balls, while Babar Azam managed 73 runs off 39 balls. Mohammad Haris, who followed Saim Ayub to the pitch, managed to score a magnificent 35 runs from just 11 balls.
Rovman Powell had a bad day and managed only 2 runs off 4 balls, while Tom Kohler-Cadmore added 38 more runs to the score total from just 18 balls. Haseebullah Khan also failed to perform with only 7 runs, but Azmatullah Omarzai helped Peshawar Zalmi add another 16 runs to the score from just 6 balls.
In terms of bowling during the first innings, Abbas Afridi performed brilliantly and took four wickets.
Multan Sultans had a rough start to their batting with both openers being dismissed too quickly with Shan Masood and Mohammad Rizwan scoring 5 and 7 runs, respectively.
However, Rilee Rossouw and Kieron Pollard stepped up and scored 121 and 52 runs, respectively. Tim David was unable to perform with only 2 runs from 3 balls, but Anwar Ali and Usama Mir guided the team to victory with 24 and 11 runs, respectively.
