Peshawar Zalmi defeated Islamabad United by 12 runs in Match 32 (Eliminator 1) of the ongoing season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 8 2023) held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Islamabad United won the toss and decided to bowl first, which allowed Peshawar Zalmi to set a target of 184 runs.
Peshawar Zalmi had a decent start to the innings with Saim Ayub managing 23 runs, while Babar Azam scored 64 runs. However, Haseebullah Khan only managed to add 15 runs to the score total, while Mohammad Haris contributed 34 runs.
Meanwhile, Tom Kohler-Cadmore managed 16 more runs for Peshawar Zalmi while others that followed did not stay on the pitch long enough score anything significant.
Islamabad United lost an early wicket with Rahmanullah Gurbaz scoring just 10 runs, however, Alex Hales and Sohaib Maqsood managed a great partnership together and scored 57 and 60 runs, respectively.
However, Islamabad United lost come quick wickets afterwards with Azam Khan, Colin Munro, and Faheem Ashraf being dismissed without scoring much runs at all. Shadab Khan managed to pick up the pace and score 26 runs off 12 balls, but it wasn’t enough and Islamabad United could only score 171-6 against a target of 184 runs.
